Some gifts from my friends

I have been the recipient of some truly strange electronic communication. Almost anyone that puts a home page on the net gets mail from random lunatics at some point. But once in a while, I'll get something that feels special. I save these as kind of little cosmic "presents" that might be useful to me some day. If you can help me find out where or why they originated, please let me know.

Someone left four minutes of what sounds like African tribal music on my voice mail. No introduction, no closing, just four minutes of this stuff. If you listen close enough, you can hear in the background someone moving the recording device they were using. It's beautiful. Give it a listen. (You'll need to have installed RealAudio)

Someone used the response form from my home page to deposit this rather odd message into my email box:

finding that one friend. I will not here spoil your fun, brains get burnt
starring at the sun; Ithacarian dreams will always most certainly singe wings.

I called the phone number, and yes indeed, it was answered by a recording from some guy named Max who said he was from the House of Refuge. I took a look at my server logs found that whoever sent this thing to me was probably sitting at the Phoenix Public Library.

As I was just returning from a trip to California, I couldn't consider attending this function. Maybe someday I'll get there.
