Kiawasch Saheb Nassagh
While chugging through CRM data this morning, I'm listening to an CD called "Moments" by Kiawasch Saheb Nassagh. It's improvised piano music, reminiscent of something you might find recorded on the ECM label. Perfect stuff for a quiet Sunday morning.
The label this CD is on isn't ECM, it's Hermes Records, which exists "to produce and promote modern Iranian Music, discover creative musicians and help artists approach new horizons." Very beautiful stuff on this label, and very much unlike traditional Persian classical music. Iran produces some amazing music; I would so love to see Iranian musicians performing in the US, and to travel there and take it all in.
